Healthy Smoothie
30 Apr 2008
Start your day with the luxury of a really healthy smoothie! This is a green smoothie recipe containing avocado (the healthiest fruit there is), cucumber, spinach and lime. The cucumber, lime and spinach offsets the creaminess of the avocado and makes this an amazingly fresh tasting drink. It can also be used as a detox drink because it alkalizes and detoxifies your body, helping your body to cleanse and get rid of the toxins that you have assimilated inside. This green drink is both fresh and creamy and is great as your first food intake in the morning. What can be better than starting each day with pure health in a glass, freshly made!
3 glasses
Ingredients
1/2 medium sized cucumber
1 avocado
1 lime
2 cups (5 dl) of spinach (preferably frozen, if you use fresh add some more ice)
5-10 ice cubes (more of you use fresh spinach, less if you use frozen spinach)
1 cup (2,5 dl) cold water
A little salt
Feel free to experiment with different amounts of the ingredients to suit your taste!
Preparation
Cut the half cucumber into smaller pieces and place into blender. Cut the avocado lengthwise all the way around. Twist the halves and remove the pit. This can be done by hitting the pit with a knife so the knife gets a bit stuck, then twist the knife horizontally and the pit should easily loosen from the avocado. Use a large spoon to scoop the avocado out of its peel and put it into the blender. Take the spinach and ice and place it into the blender on top of the cucumber and avocado. The next step is to cut the lime in half and then squeeze out the lime juice into the blender on top of the veggie/fruit mix. Finally, add the salt, water and ice cubes and start blending! Blend for a while until the mix is smooth. If it is hard to blend add some more water and it should be easier. You may also have to stop the blender and mix around a little with a spatula or a spoon, and then continue processing. The mix should be able to fully circulate in the blender, and when it’s been doing that for a little while - the smoothie is done!
Pour in glasses, add straws if you like and enjoy!
