I strongly feel that it isn’t too far off to suggest that having just green smoothies can provide pretty near every thing that your body demands to maintain health. Shy of just Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D, I believe, these beverages have it all (including protein). The worst part for me when I first started drinking the smoothies were the unhealthy cravings. Learn about how I conquered them once and for all.
I would like to start out by telling you that the information in this article is just my opinion which is based on information I have read on the topic of health in addition to more than a decade of living and eating the way I have on a daily basis. Couple that with my blood work done twice each year that indicates zero deficiencies, I feel this information is valid and very valuable. Perhaps it just works for me, my body type and genetics, I can’t say for certain. However, just like smoking tobacco will probably affect each of us with various degrees of health negatives, the green smoothie diet, I believe, will probably affect each of us with various degrees of health positives. Try it and see, after discussing it with your doctor of course.
The body is equipped to heal itself correct? Then why is it that so many people are sick? Maybe it’s an inaccurate statement, and the body is not equipped to heal itself? No! The dilemma is that people a) don’t give it with the correct amount of raw materials, usually in terms of food intake, it requires to become whole again and b) we constantly bombard it with junk that hinders the operation of the limited tools that we actually do provide it.
I’m a huge advocate of the raw food lifestyle. To suggest that heating foods beyond a certain temperature destroying required enzymes that are significant to digestion makes sense to me. Further, it is suggested that to get the most from our foods we should be chewing it it until it disappears. Our body has troubles handling big pieces of food. Also, I really feel that human beings can survive off of a diet of chiefly fruits and green vegetables, with of course some healthy fats. For the healthy fats, avocados, soaked nuts and seeds is all I consume.
The main meals I consume each an every day are comprised of lots of raw fruits and green vegetables in the form of green smoothies. Being mostly liquid, my body has no issues assimilating the nutrients.
A huge hurdle for some when changing diets, and a huge one for me is the cravings for bad foods. Like a person that has addiction to drugs or alcohol must detoxify in order to heal, we essentially have to do a similar thing. The cells in our body consist of stuff from the food that we have ingested in the past. The body may crave more of the same unhealthy foods that contribute to the makings of each of the cells in our body. With a drug detox, often times, sauna therapy is used to sweat the drugs out of the system. This could help eliminate the physical cravings for the drug which will allow the individual an improved chance of remaining sober. For us, improving our eating will probably influence the clearing of toxic foods as well which can be naturally removed in stool, perspiration and maybe urine as well. However, we may still crave those foods while some of the toxic elements in our cells are still present.
I find that immediately after having the first swallow of my green smoothie my own cravings for sugar, salt, meat, grease, etc started to decrease. After I was finished drinking the smoothie, the unhealthy cravings were gone completely and I’d be fulfilled. The problem then was that the unhealthy cravings would come again as I became hungry. So I started to make certain I was on top of it and would have another green smoothie prepared before the cravings would reoccur, or shortly after they began. The unhealthy cravings sooner or later subsided for good as I cleaned out my system. Afterward I began to crave greens instead!
My questions now is, do you plan to remain sick and overweight or do you want to start thinking about a healthier diet providing your body everything that it needs?
